Taking Action

6 01 2011

For so long I felt my life was unbalanced.
I would rush to accomplish what I thought I had to do. I would rush to run my four children around to where I thought they had to go. I would rush to do our household errands. I would rush to do our business errands. I would rush to rush. I was always on the go.
I would focus on areas in my life that I had under control and wonder why the other areas were not. I always felt like life was a balancing act.
And that is where I had it wrong. So wrong.
I have now learned that I need to work on the areas I am weak in. I have learned not to ignore myself and my needs. I have learned that if I do not take care of myself then no one else will.
I have learned that my life is not a balancing act but rather balancing action. Action on developing areas in my life that need some attention. Action on taking care of me so I can better take care of my life. Action on putting God first, family second, and career third on my list of priorities.
Now I find that I am not rushing through life but in fact enjoying it.
I take action everyday to build the balance in my life.

I thank my friend and mentor Laurie Davis for showing me how to build balance.

ps Please enjoy this Alabama song “I’m In A Hurry”. It really hit home with me.
