Taking Up Running

9 12 2010

Sometimes we just need to get away.
Get away from our jobs, our families, our stress, our lives.
Even if it is only for a few minutes.

I used to think I was “running away” from my stress.  Running away from my work, taking a play date away from my life.  I would “run away” and come back refreshed and ready to take on the world.  I would be rested with a new perspective to improve my world.
One of my mentors Laurie Davis pointed out to me a valuable lesson. She showed me what I was REALLY doing.

I was not “running away” from my stress…. I was “RUNNING TO” my solution.

I love this way of thinking.
You see when you run away and take a break – be it for an hour, a day, a week, or a month it doesn’t matter. You come back refreshed with a renewed plan, renewed energy, renewed spirit.  Sometimes you have even met people in your ‘run’ who you have connected with.  People that have been put on your path to help you.  Or maybe you were put on their path to help them.
Either way when you ‘run to’ something you are still on your path to success.

Encouraging you to take up running
